Se Youn Park, Director of Research, WIIS-Australia
Se Youn is a final year PhD candidate at the University of Queensland. Her current project examines the regulation of ISIS women returnees (‘female foreign fighters’) in the UK and Australia, which includes analyses on national security legislation and practices aimed towards high profile women such as Shamima Begum. Se Youn’s secondary research area is in South Korean (gender) politics and the security implications of feminist backlash in this region. Prior to her PhD candidature, Se Youn completed an Honours degree in International Relations (2019) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Chinese (2016-2018) at the University of Queensland.
